Letter Poems

Sometimes a Letter poem is a great way to write something unusual. You can write a letter to almost anything; the weather, a favourite pet, a unpopular teacher (!), the Prime Minister, an historical figure, your lunch...
If you like, you could write your Letter poem as a series of questions. Here is a Letter poem, written by Edward to thunder:

Why?

Why scare us
all through the night?
Why bolt down
like burning spires?
Why flash and crash
and glow like fire?

Why rumble
like a car starting?
Why smash
our pots
like glass shattering?

Why wake me up
and make me feel
like bombs are dropping?

Have a go at your own Letter poem, and remember to use lots of interesting and imaginative words.
